My builder once said “I am just a builder, you made this stunning”. Hire a designer first, meet with them, have a discussion, and ensure that you have good chemistry, as they will be the ones working closely with you to turn your home dreams into reality. Additionally, reputable designers often have established relationships with builders they frequently collaborate with, whereas a builder may work with a designer who might not be the best fit for your specific needs.

MY ARCHITECTS ARE OFFERING ME AN INTERIOR DESIGN PACKAGE. SHOULD I GO WITH THEM FOR MY DESIGN TOO?

Yes and no. If they are offering you a great deal, go ahead! Remember, architects are not interior designers. While we have reputable sources all around the GTA, we also collaborate with you on your style, look, and feel. We have sources abroad for custom lights and furniture, and we are always on trend. And if you plan to sell your house we work with real estate agents to make sure your house will be sold at the highest price. Make sure you trust your designer because this is the space where you sleep and eat every day.

HOW OFTEN DO AN INTERIOR DESIGNER AND A CLIENT COMMUNICATE WITH EACH OTHER?

It depends on your schedule and preferences. We'll need an initial meeting to ensure we understand your expectations. The number of subsequent meetings will vary based on the complexity of your project. Additionally, if you prefer not to be involved, we can fully manage your project from start to finish.

HOW LONG DOES A CONSTRUCTION TAKE?

The construction of a new build based on 4000 sq.ft might take 10 to 14 months, depending on your builder and the style of the house. While we work quickly and efficiently, we first need to review the plans and have a discussion with you to estimate the time of your move-in day.

DOES HIRING AN INTERIOR DESIGNER SPEED THE CONSTRUCTION?

Yes, having an interior designer on board way ahead of construction will speed the project by 2-3 months. We usually have our drawings ready before the construction, allowing the builder to arrive at the site fully prepared.

CAN MY BUILDER JUST DO INTERIOR DESIGN SELECTIONS?

Accepted Answer

You are paying your builder to build not to go to the store and spend hours selecting tiles, plumbing, colours, finishes etc. Your builder will have a lot on the go, let them concentrate on construction. A reputable builder will always advise to hire a designer to speed and smooth the process.
